2013 Gravel Series

A nearly perfect Napa Valley growing season provided a stellar harvest in 2013, resulting in an exceptional vintage. Warm, dry conditions during spring brought about an early bud break and very healthy vines going into flowering and fruit set. Conditions continued to be excellent throughout the growing season, with cooler, sunny weather through September and October. This moderate weather allowed the fruit to hang longer on the vine for better flavor development and phenolic maturity without excessive sugar accumulation.

Secret Garden Close Up

2013 Secret Garden

Sourced from our M-Bar Ranch in Oakville this wine shines with a powerful perfume of dark fruit, dried flowers, and confectionary hints. Richer tones of blueberry and plum complement the more feminine notes of rose water and lavender. A burst of bright red fruit on entry darkens quickly through the mid-palate and exhibits cassis and blue fruit. A long finish is beautifully balanced with serious structure and mouth-watering acidity, showing nuances of clove and sage.

2013 The Vow

Very dense, deep red color. The rich and robust aromas of black cherry and earthy spices linger as notes of wet stone and cocoa dust emerge. The velvety full entry of raspberry and plum turns dark and earthy. Layered throughout the palate are notes of briar, cassis, baking spice, and minerality. Showcasing the Rutherford terroir, the finish is long, lingering, and broadly structured, exhibiting fresh acidity and great complexity.

2013 Scholar’s Gate

Deep, dark red in appearance. The complex nose offers great depth with notes of cherry, rosemary and white chocolate ganache. An almost confectionary quality comes through with ripe fruit aromatics. The rich full entry of cassis and rhubarb evolves into more earth-driven and distinctive“forest floor” elements. The elegance continues on the palate with the sweetness of brambly fruits and the savory qualities of mushroom. The finish is beautifully textured with noble ripe tannins and a hint of toasted oak.
