Sustainability Series Part III: Purpose

Sustainability is now and has always been at the heart of what we do here at Round Pond Estate. For over 40 years, we have had the honor of stewarding this land.

Sustainability is not a one-time achievement, but rather a process, and we are constantly working on new ways to be conscious of how we utilize our resources.

We see sustainability manifesting across three core tenants at Round Pond Estate: people, place, and purpose. Through our Sustainability Series, we’re diving deeper into these three pillars and sharing more about this topic that is so dear to us.

Purpose

Round Pond couldn’t exist without the community where we live, work and make wine— so we’re committed to more than just sustainable practices here at the winery and in the vineyard: we’re here to serve and care for our community.

One charitable cause we are most passionate about is the Alzheimer’s Association, an organization we contribute to throughout the year through special wine releases and programs.

What it is:

Each November during National Family Caregiver Month, we are proud to donate 3% of the proceeds from all wine sales to the Alzheimer’s Association®. The mission of the Alzheimer’s Association is to lead the way to end Alzheimer’s and all other dementia by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.

Why we do it:

Round Pond founder and loving father Bob MacDonnell lost his battle with Alzheimer’s on May 18, 2021, and our family knows all too well how shattering it is to watch a loved one struggle with the disease. Our mission is to honor the work that Dad started by giving back in a way we hope would make him proud; through the support of our Round Pond team, the promise to deliver our best every day to our customers, and the commitment to making the world a better place by fighting to end Alzheimer’s.
