Our Right Bank Blend is alluring and captivating, much like its compatriots in Bordeaux. Showcasing the small selection of Cabernet Franc planted on the estate together with Cabernet Sauvignon, this small-lot blend has resulted in a supple, smooth, rich wine with silky, lengthy tannins.

This wine is bursting with aromatic notes of sweet cherry, blueberry, and rose petal. Rich flavors of plum, cocoa, mushroom, and a touch of sandalwood dance across the palate. Bright acidity supports the bold tannins while the oak and fruit notes are flawlessly integrated in this elegant wine. The 2022 vintage was the third in a string of drought years. Despite the drought, there was well-timed Spring rain that boosted the vines’ vigor allowing for nicely established canopies for both shade and photosynthesis. The weather remained relatively mild and even, with routine fog patterns cooling nighttime and morning temperatures. At Labor Day, a significant heat wave impacted the entire Western States. At Round Pond, we sustained some heat damage but mostly came out unscathed thanks to our healthy vine canopies and overhead sprinklers. Round Pond’s “California sprawl” trellis systems provide excellent vine balance and diverse sun exposures.
Inspired by the famous right bank blends of Bordeaux, our Right Bank Blend comes specifically from a small gravel seam running throughout the eastern portion of Round Pond Estate. Three uniquely tended sub-blocks provide the components for the blend including Cabernet Sauvignon from Block 1B and 2A and Cabernet Franc from Block 2B2.
