Accolades

“A blend of Round Pond's estate vineyards in Rutherford and Oakville, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is deep, layered and super-expressive. This delivers the goods big time. All the elements are so well balanced... there's so much to admire here. The inclusion of fruit from M-Bar makes a meaningful difference in this cuvée."

“The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate offers a more serious profile, with pure cassis and dark fruits as well as a touch of minerality in its tobacco and scorched earth aromatics. Medium-bodied and concentrated, with ripe tannins and beautiful balance, it will evolve for 10-12+ years."

Tasting Notes

Our flagship Estate Cabernet Sauvignon opens with enticing aromas of wild strawberry and cocoa nib. With exquisite texture and a velvety mouthfeel, this wine offers concentrated flavors of ripe raspberry and a hint of blue fruit with warm notes of allspice and black pepper. Carrying notes of strawberry balanced with a touch of coffee, the concentrated palate perfectly summarizes the diverse flavors found on our Rutherford Estate and Oakville vineyards. This Cabernet Sauvignon is ready to be enjoyed now and will age gracefully over time.

Vineyard Notes

The 2021 vintage was marked by a second season of drought. The temperatures remained relatively mild, however the dry conditions resulted in smaller, more concentrated grapes with lighter yields and one of the earliest harvest windows to date. Our Cabernet Sauvignon and other red varieties are planted on loose, alluvial soils derived from the volcanic Vaca Mountains and our “California sprawl” trellis systems provide excellent vine balance and diverse sun exposures.
