Tasting Notes

Our flagship Estate Cabernet Sauvignon bursts from the glass with alluring aromas of ripe blackberry, bright cherry and  minerality reflective of our infamous “Rutherford Dust.” Creamy, rich, and generous, this wine shows essences of plum and cocoa which marry well with hints of green peppercorn, licorice and tarragon. Elegant and supple, this wine illustrates refined tannins and a pleasing granite-like finish reflecting the diverse flavors found on our Rutherford estate vineyards. This Cabernet Sauvignon is ready to be enjoyed now and will age gracefully over time.

Vineyard Notes

The 2017 season started with a memorable amount of rainfall, which was a refreshing change after five years of drought conditions. Summer brought numerous 100+ degree heat spikes, which made our daily checks on sugar, flavors and acids helpful in ensuring an earlier harvest than past vintages. Hand-harvested in late September and pressed as whole clusters, the wine was aged in New French Oak. The result is a vintage where Mother Nature collaborated with the vineyard, allowing us to make elegant wines with depth and complexity.
