2015 Proprietary Red Wine

From the lauded 2015 vintage — called “near perfect” due to the smaller harvest that resulted in more concentrated flavors, our Proprietary Red Wine is incredibly dense and powerful. This wine offers supple tannins, bright acidity, and earth-driven tones of lavender, forest floor, allspice, and Rutherford dust. This exceptional wine has been held in our cellar for the past 6 years and will continue to age gracefully over the next 5+ years. 

 

Tasting Notes

The nose is seductive with creamy black cherry and complementary notes of anise, Italian herbs, and a touch of white pepper. Plush notes of ripe plum on the entry followed by red cassis, raspberry, traces of dark chocolate, and leather. Incredibly dense and powerful, this wine finishes with supple tannins, bright acidity, and earth-driven tones of lavender, forest floor, All-spice and Rutherford dust. This red blend is lovely with rich flavored foods like Indian or Mediterranean. It would pair deliciously with duck confit and sun-dried tomato pizza or chicken tandoori.

Vineyard Notes

Bud break occurred two weeks earlier than normal in 2015. Cooler conditions during fruit set resulted in a lower yields than normal allowing us to achieve a good balance with no need to drop fruit to achieve ripening. Throughout the rest of the season, growing conditions were near perfect; the very small crop produced more concentrated flavors and achieved ripeness earlier than any previous vintage.
