2015 Gravel Series ‘Scholar’s Gate’ Gift Set

Deep, garnet-purple in appearance. Scholar’s Gate is opulent, serious, voluptuously textured, and layered with savory characteristics. Intense aromatics of blueberry compote, dried cranberry, and vanilla bean layer beautifully as earthy notes of sage, leather, and Rutherford dust emerge. Ripe red and black fruit explode on the palate with more concentrated tones of boysenberry, candied raspberry, and dark chocolate. Aromatic and dense, this wine’s refreshing acidity is complemented perfectly by a powerful structure and rich, lush, tannins. While most impressive and elegant now, this wine is worthy of cellaring for more than 15 years.
