This luxuriant Cabernet starts with a bouquet of dried flowers, rose petals, and cocoa, as hints of black pepper emerge.  Deep, dark juicy fruits layer the palate with lush notes of black cherry and red plum, giving way to more complex notes of sage, clove, and minerality. Emphasizing its Rutherford terroir, this wine finishes with darker notes of cassis and ripe blackberries, balanced beautifully by suedy, round tannins, and carefully crafted acidity sure to please all discerning palates.

Vineyard Notes

The 2014 harvest began early and ended early with near perfect weather. Heavy rains in late February and early March was all the rain we saw that harvest, and flawlessly kicked off budbreak. The drought brought about smaller berry sizes with more concentrated flavors, which is exactly what we are looking for when crafting our wines. Individual lots from special estate vineyard blocks were fermented and aged separately to allow the broadest range of flavors at blending. After meticulously tasting through each barrel from our favorite lots, we selected only the very best for this reserve offering.
