2006 Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon

Member Pricing: $116-$138

A true reflection of that signature Rutherford dust, this Cabernet Sauvignon embodies an old world meets new world style. The Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon is hand crafted entirely from our Rutherford Estate, sourcing from the top 5% off the property. Exhibiting rich characteristics of dark complex fruits, minerality and balanced intensity, the layers of this wine truly reflect our vineyards terroir.

Tasting Notes

Highlighted by complex aromas of wild berry, cinnamon, cloves and pepper, the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon displays typical Rutherford structure with boysenberry syrup, blueberry and plum accents. Balanced, with lively acidity and suede tannins, this wine emphasizes cool fermentation, early pressing and lees stirring.

Vineyard Notes

The 2006 growing season was ideal for developing beautiful varietal flavors with good body and structure. A cool and wet winter held off early maturity. After bud break in April, mother nature provided ideal growing conditions with a warm spring and hot summer. A moderate August, cool September and warm October permitted optimal hang time and maximum flavor development on the vine.

Winemaker Notes

Individual lots from specific vineyard blocks were fermented and aged separately to allow the broadest range of flavors at blending. All lots received extended maceration with pump overs three times daily and aged 20 months in 90% new tight grain French oak.
