Silverado Farming Company

Our Vineyard Manager Pete Richmond, founded Silverado Farming in 2001 after spending 15 years working as a vineyard manager in the Central Coast and Napa Valley. After receiving his degree in Agriculture Business from Fresno State University in 1987 Pete was hired by the Miller Family owners of Bien Nacido Vineyards in Santa Maria. After several years Pete became vineyard manager of Bien Nacido. In 1991 feeling a desire to move closer to their family Pete and his wife moved to Napa. During this period he worked for a number of wineries ending with managing the Napa and Lake County Vineyards for Kendall Jackson. This is where Pete had his first exposure to growing high end wines for both the Lokoya and Cardinale Brand.

With the goal of working with small estate wineries where the focus was on the quality of the wines and not the short term bottom line. In 2006 Pete with his two partners founded Silverado Farming’s Once Percent for the Community Fund. Each year Silverado Farming pledges one percent of their gross revenues to at risk children and farm worker related issues in Napa County. To date the date the fund has distributed $160,000.

An Active member of several organizations, Pete believes it is very important to be involved in both professional groups and charitable groups. He is currently the Vice President of Napa Valley Community housing, Finance Chair of the First Presbyterian Church of Napa, a board member of the Napa Valley Grape Growers, and board member of the Napa County Housing Commission.

Colinas Farming Company

Our vineyard and orchard manager, Colinas Farming Company was established in 1975 and has been principally owned and operated by Paul Jackson since 1983. As a fifth generation Californian, Paul’s grape growing roots can be traced back to his great-great grandfather Camille Aguillon, who established one of the original wineries in Sonoma, trading wines for oranges with General Mariano Vallejo.

From a childhood of labor on his family’s prune orchards in Sonoma County through his graduation from UC Davis in Viticulture in 1980, he has first-hand knowledge of the meaning of sustainability, both environmental and economic. He has truly developed an instinctive feel and passion for tending his lands and coaxing the best from each distinctive parcel.

For the past thirty years, Paul has quietly and consistently been growing some of the finest wine grapes in the Napa Valley. Paul has grown Cabernet Sauvignon grapes that produced Villa Mount Eden wines in the early 1980’s. He has grown Chardonnay for Grgich Hills wines from 1983 to present. More recently, he has grown grapes that have produced wines for Opus One, Phelps , Duckhorn , Shafer, Chimney Rock, Honig, Etude, Round Pond Estate, Cardinale, Hollywood and Vine, Pedemonte Cellars, Whitehall Lane, Silver Oak, Buccella, Frank Family, Provenance, and the list goes on and on.

Besides being active and participating in several professional organizations, Paul has given much back to our local youth. Volunteering as President and head coach of the Napa Track Club for the past ten years, he has worked with more than 700 local youth athletes. He has been responsible for accompanying nearly 100 of his athletes to various national championship competitions around the country which have led to numerous college scholarships.

Dedication to quality, preservation of land from generation to generation, always hungry to incorporate new technologies and methods, successfully building a well trained staff and overseeing the production of some of the highest quality fruit from some of the most prestigious winegrowing land in the world.
