Colleen Dray, Director of Guest Relations

As Director of Guest Relations of Round Pond Estate, Colleen has the pleasure of working with Miles and Ryan MacDonnell and the hospitality team to design and execute all the visitor options and guest experiences at the olive mill and winery. She loves throwing a great party, which is evident in the sheer number of club events that Round Pond holds for their members. Colleen came to the wine industry seeking a mid-life career change and the Napa lifestyle. Starting out in the tasting room at Robert Sinskey, she learned the business from the ground up and became an expert at polishing wine glasses and folding six bottle boxes. From there she solidified her career in the at Crimson Wine Group, where she oversaw the direct sales operations for both Pine Ridge and Archery Summit wineries for seven years.

Prior to the wine industry, Colleen lived abroad for number of years where she forged a career in international product sales, marketing, and brand management in the luxury fashion and fragrance industry. She represented a variety of exclusive brands such as Giorgio of Beverly Hills, Fendi Timepiece Collection and Alfred Sung Fragrances.

Colleen hails from a small town in Pennsylvania and graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Speech Communications and a minor in French. Embracing the Farm to Table concept in her daily life, she enjoys gardening, cooking and entertaining. Although she has never officially studied wine, she has traveled extensively to the Wine Regions of the world, and has a particular fondness for anything Italian.


Eric Maczko, Executive Chef

As Executive Chef, Eric Maczko oversees menus and wine pairing for Round Pond Estate’s extensive wine and food programs. He is dedicated to the concept of farm-to-table dining, and creates original dishes from the produce of on-site organic olive orchards and biodynamic produce gardens, including the estate olive oils, citrus syrups and red wine vinegars.

Prior to joining Round Pond Estate full-time, Eric consulted with the winery as an independent contractor, specializing in menus, recipes and wine pairing. For nearly a decade he served as Executive Chef at the historic Pine Ridge Winery, where he developed a style based on the marriage of classic French cuisine to contemporary California fare.

Originally from New Jersey, Eric attended the University of Hartford in Connecticut before earning his degree from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. He is a certified sommelier and is currently pursuing his advanced sommelier certification. Eric enjoys travel and has tasted wine throughout the world’s finest winegrowing regions.

 

Christy Argast, Tasting Room Manager

Christy was born and raised in Southern California, and spent many years traveling through Europe and living in Southeast Asia. When she returned from living in Thailand, her brother gave her what in hindsight was the best Christmas gift ever—a mixed case of wines from around the world. She was enthralled with the diversity of vintages, and she knew that her career was about to take a turn.

Her first wine gig was working near home in the Santa Barbara wine industry, but it only took a few months before she made the move to Napa Valley to begin a serious study of wine. She worked in Yountville at a tasting room and through self-education, she studied and passed the first level Court of Master Sommelier certification. While blind tasting many Napa Valley wines at the staff holiday party, she fell in love with Round Pond's 2005 vintage, putting us on her radar. She moved from Yountville to Calistoga where she accepted a position as Business Development Manager for a small family-owned winery. She found herself longing to get her hands dirty, to actually experience wine production at a vineyard rather than read about it in books, so she applied for a harvest internship at Round Pond Estate in 2010, and the rest is history!

Christy loves to share her passion for wine through education—nothing satisfies her more than facilitating an amazing experience of wine for the consumer.
