Daphne Blackmer - Head Gardener

Daphne is the Head Gardener at Round Pond Estate. She oversees the organic practices that maintain the health of the orchards, olive groves and gardens behind the production of Round Pond Estate’s specialty gourmet red wine vinegars, citrus syrups, and olive oils.

Daphne is a fourth generation Californian and spent all of her summers as a youth on her family's pear farm in the Delta, which has been in her family since 1895. This exposure to nature, legacy, and the freedom to explore steeped an intense interest in the environment as a whole and being a steward to the land.

Daphne studied landscape architecture at the University of Oregon and agriculture, with an emphasis on small organic family farming, at the University of California, Davis.

She has worked in many aspects of gardening and farming and continues to find it to be very rewarding to be able to work within her passions on a daily basis. When she is not working, Daphne is tending her personal garden, hiking, or swimming. Her guilty pleasure is any form of cheese!

Laura Jernigan - Winery Garden Curator

Laura is the Winery Garden Curator at Round Pond Estate. She oversees the day to day activities of our winery garden, that guests have the pleasure of visiting on a daily basis.

Laura was born in San Francisco, raised in Marin County, and has lived all over the Bay Area. Her parents are the ones that began her interest in gardening - her mom loved flowers and flower arranging and her dad always had a small vegetable garden.

She has had many jobs before following her garden passion. After working for a large oil company, Laura realized her need to do something else, so she enrolled in the horticulture program at Diablo Valley College. She completed their program and started to work at a retail nursery. After several years in retail, she worked for an organic wholesale nursery growing vegetables and herbs. Her last stop before arriving at Round Pond was Mustards Grill, where she worked for 6+ years growing herbs and vegetables for the restaurant.

In her free time, Laura enjoys all sports and is a lifelong, diehard, passionate Giants fan.
